Jeddah: The city council has released a schedule and implementation plan for the removal of slums in various parts of Jeddah as part of urban beautification. The information was announced on the website of the Jeddah Municipality. The names of the areas to be removed in Jeddah, the date of notification to the residents of those areas, the date of disconnection of services such as electricity to the demolished areas, the date of commencement of demolition of buildings and other structures, the date of completion of demolition and completion of demolition work are published in order.

In the first phase, a total of 1.5 million square meters of slums will be demolished in 26 areas in Jeddah municipality. The demolition work was completed in Gulail, Petromine, Qurayyat and Nusla Yamani. Demolition work continues in Balad, Ammaria and Kandara. Marking work on demolished buildings in Hindavia, Baghdad and Sharafiya has been completed. Electricity services to these areas will be canceled on the 19th of this month. The release dates indicate that the demolition of the buildings will begin on the 26th and will be completed by the 8th of March. Parts of Nusha, Hayy Salamah, Bani Malik and Al Wurood, which were included in the first phase, will be demolished in the coming days. Areas such as Mushrifa, Rehab, Aziziya and Rabwa will be demolished after Ramadan.

The second phase includes the King Abdul Aziz Endowment’s slums under the Jeddah Al Ain Al Aziziya Project. A total of 1.39 million square meters of buildings will be demolished in these areas, which are spread over eight areas, including Madain Fahad, Al Jamiah and Rawabi. According to the schedule released by the Jeddah Municipality, the entire slum area will be demolished by November 27 this year.
