The dengue vaccines, which should arrive this week in Mato Grosso do Sul, will be distributed to 33 municipalities that make up the Campo Grande health macro-region. The Ministry of Health has not yet announced the arrival time of the vaccine, which could happen between this Friday (9) and next Monday (12).

The SES (State Department of Health) will receive 41,783 doses from the Ministry of Health in the 1st shipment to implement the Dengue vaccination strategy.

The distribution was determined based on three main criteria: the ranking of health regions and municipalities; the required number of doses for the target population according to availability (predicted by the manufacturer) and the calculation of the total doses to be delivered in a single shipment to the municipality.

The Secretariat reiterates that each municipality will have its own vaccination strategy and that it may change throughout the campaign.

According to the SES Immunization Coordinator, Ana Paula Rezende Goldfinger, as soon as the vaccines arrive in the State they will be ready to be collected by the municipalities covered: “We will deliver them as soon as they arrive in the State to the municipality that can come and collect them”.

Target Audience – At first, the target audience will be children aged 10 and 11. “We will start the vaccination campaign gradually. It will start offering it to children and adolescents aged 10 and 11, as soon as the Ministry of Health replenishes these doses, sends new shipments, we will increase in a phased manner”, explained Ana Paula.

The Ministry of Health chose the public between 10 and 14 years old because they have the highest rate of hospitalization for dengue, after elderly people, for whom Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) did not release Qdenga.

The vaccination schedule consists of two doses with an interval of three months between them. The recommendation is that vaccination begins with the administration of D1. The remaining doses for D2 will be sent later.
