Bulgaria’s efforts to counter corruption in all its forms were presented by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov at the Spotlight Corruption session at the Munich Security Conference. This was announced by the Council of Ministers on its official Facebook page.

The prime minister presented the reforms in the judicial system and the anti-corruption measures that the government and the parliament have implemented in recent months. Academician Denkov also emphasized the importance of cooperation with international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Council of Europe and “Transparency without Borders” (Transparency International).

The experience and efforts of Bulgaria were recognized by the other participants in the discussion – the chairman of the budget committee of the US Senate Sheldon Whitehouse, the vice president of “Transparency without borders” Ketakandriana Rafitson and the president of Guatemala Bernardo Arevalo. Crown Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein, with whom Prime Minister Denkov met a month ago in Davos, was also present in the audience as a listener. The discussion was moderated by Greta Fenner, managing director of the Basel Institute, the government information service also reported.

As part of their participation in the forum, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel held a meeting today with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Nikolay Denkov also spoke with the assistant secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, Robert Silvers.

Talks were also held with the Foreign Minister of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg, and the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonite.
