Joe Biden and his Republican primary opponent, Donald Trump, remain with similar support for the US presidential election in November. This is according to a Reuters/Ipsos survey. The agency notes that the inquiry was conducted after the recent report of a special prosecutor, in which there is also a comment on the mental abilities of the current head of state.

The four-day poll, which lasted until Monday, shows that former US President Trump is supported by 37.5% of respondents, and 34% are behind the current Biden. About 10 percent would vote for other candidates, 12 percent would not vote, and 8 percent declined to answer.

The survey was conducted among 1,237 adult Americans across the country just days after Special Counsel Robert Hurr released report, which declined to indict Biden for leaking classified documents after he stepped down as vice president in 2017, but also described him as “a well-intentioned elderly man with a failing memory.” The White House sharply disputed that assessment.

The poll shows a narrower gap between the two contenders compared to results a month ago. Then Trump had a 6% lead, BTA reports.

Meanwhile, a quarter of Republican-identified voters and about half of independent voters say they would not vote for Trump if he is convicted in any of the four cases currently pending against him.
