At the bend of an alley on the campus of Adiyaman University, a flag attracts attention. The red, blue, orange banner of Armenia is hung on the wall of a tent. A very unusual sight in Turkey. “The Turks are surprised to see our flag, they come to take a picture of it”says Aram, one of the volunteers of the Armenian search and rescue team who arrived in Adiyaman on Wednesday, February 8, forty-eight hours after the earthquake that devastated southeastern Anatolia.
«It was terrible to see so much damagesays Aram, jI was just a kid in 1988, but when I saw all those collapsed buildings, it reminded me of the images of the Spitak earthquake.30,000 people died in this disaster. Turkey had then lent assistance to its neighbor.
