Development in the case of Rabbi Zvi Tau: the investigation is transferred to the Lahav 433 unit

The police are expected to summon additional rabbis to testify, following information that they have received over the years to allegations of abuse of women by Rabbi Tao

The police decided to transfer the investigation of Rabbi Zvi Tau, president of the Har Hamor yeshiva and the spiritual leader of the Noam party, from the Yehuda region in the Shi’i district, to unit Lahav 433. This was reported this evening (Thursday) in ‘Khan Haudas’.

According to Vared Pelman’s report, the decision stems from Rabbi Tau’s status and due to the need to back up the testimonies of Rabbis Yuval Sharlo and David Stav – who said that they had received additional complaints about Rabbi Tau.

It was also announced this evening that the police will seek to collect the testimonies of additional rabbis, following information that has reached them that they were exposed over the years to allegations of harming women on the part of Rabbi Tao.

Last week it was reported that the Shia District Police opened an investigation into the suspicion that Rabbi Tao committed serious acts against women. This follows a complaint by Nechama Thana, a resident of Hebron, who claims that the rabbi assaulted her many years ago.

Earlier this week, another complainant named Dorit was interviewed by Network B, who said that Rabbi Tau attacked her in his home more than 40 years ago.
