Idukki: SFI and DYFI activists chanted slogans when the accused in the stabbing case of Idukki Painavu Engineering College student and SFI activist Dheeraj were produced in court.
The Kattappana court remanded the accused till the 25th of this month. The police special investigation team may be investigating the murder. The announcement is expected today.
Nikhil Paili and Jerin Jojo, the accused in the Dheeraj murder case, were produced in the Kattappana court around 12 noon. CPM, DYFI and SFI activists waiting at the court gate shouted slogans when they saw the police vehicle and rushed to stop the vehicle. Shouted the slogan. Defendants were called obscene.
Police on the spot immediately stopped the activists and drove the vehicle to the court premises. Activists were not allowed to enter the court premises. Scenes can be seen:
According to the remand report, Dheeraj and Amal were stabbed by the Youth Congress and KSU activists who had joined the gang unjustly. The remand report said that Nikhil Pyle, the secretary of the Youth Congress banana plantation constituency, was stabbed and that KSU leader Jerin Jojo was present at the scene. The other four accused are absconding, the remand report said.
However, Nikhil Paili told the court that he only fled when the mob came to attack him. Jerin JoJo told the court that he was the one who ran away and informed the police about the beating and did not know about the stabbing until the vehicle passed by with Dheeraj.
Nikhil Pailey told police that the knife used in the murder was thrown into the forest while fleeing. Police searched the road and bush in front of the Idukki Collectorate with Nikhil but could not find the knife used in the murder.
The police will file an application in the court tomorrow to release the accused in custody for further investigation and collection of evidence. The CPM alleges that there was a high-level conspiracy behind the murder of SFI activist Dheeraj. Dheeraj was killed alone by those who came from outside the college. The attack was carried out by trained people. The CPM and SFI alleged that all this was planned.
With this, the government decided to appoint a special investigation team to probe the case. An order in this regard will be issued soon. Police have intensified their search for the absconding accused in the case.
Meanwhile, Abhijit, who was undergoing treatment at Idukki Medical College, was shifted to Thrissur Medical College. The decision was made following the discovery of pus in the chest wound. Abhijit was also stabbed in the chest.
