DIC Corporation (TOKYO:4631) today announced its participation in CES 2026, the world’s premier technology event, taking place in Las Vegas from January 6-9, 2026. Under the theme “Signals,” DIC will present prototypes of three groundbreaking products that demonstrate a shift beyond traditional chemical manufacturing, aiming to deliver direct value to society. This marks the company’s second consecutive year exhibiting at the influential consumer electronics show.
With the accelerating pace of advancements in communication technologies and artificial intelligence, companies within the chemical sector – vital to supporting global infrastructure – are poised for significant transformation. DIC is proactively responding to this shift through its “Direct to Society” business creation mechanism, striving to build a diverse ecosystem of new businesses that bridge conventional industry boundaries. “This mechanism emphasizes looking directly to society to actively envisage future needs and to respond with appropriate solutions and value,” according to a company release.
DIC first unveiled its innovative spirit at CES 2025, introducing the HAGAMOSphere® omnidirectional multicopter prototype. The design and engineering of the HAGAMOSphere earned DIC recognition as a CES Innovation Awards® 2025 Honoree in the Drones category, attracting significant attention from engineers, marketers, creatives, and media outlets worldwide.
Building on this momentum, DIC will showcase an evolved portfolio at CES 2026, including an advanced iteration of the HAGAMOSphere, alongside the debut of MoR™ and Tacthancer™ – the latter two being exhibited outside of Japan for the first time. The company intends to leverage the event to foster partnerships and explore new avenues for value creation.
Pioneering Prototypes: A Closer Look
DIC’s exhibit will feature three key prototypes, each representing a leap forward in its innovation strategy:
MoR™: The Multifunctional Robotic Finger
The MoR™ is a groundbreaking robotic finger capable of recognizing and grasping objects without relying on traditional cameras or external sensors. Utilizing 3D molded interconnect device (3D-MID) technology, sensor functions are integrated directly into the finger’s surface, enabling it to detect the shape of diverse objects – from delicate food items to robust metal components – and apply the appropriate grip. This technology promises to expand the application of robotic fingers into environments previously considered unsuitable, with potential applications in manufacturing sectors like food processing and semiconductor production, as well as in laboratory automation.
DOMOSphere® 2.0: Next-Generation Omnidirectional Multicopter
The DOMOSphere® 2.0 represents a significant upgrade to the original HAGAMOSphere, the 2025 CES Innovation Awards Honoree. Maintaining the unique ability to both fly and roll on the ground, the next-generation multicopter is engineered for enhanced durability and performance in challenging environments. A new tilt-rotor system enables multiple operational modes, allowing it to withstand stronger winds, navigate rough terrain, and carry heavier payloads. DIC envisions the DOMOSphere 2.0 playing a crucial role in addressing social issues, including disaster response, infrastructure inspection, and weather monitoring.
Tacthancer™: Enhancing Tactile Sensitivity
Tachthancer™ is a novel tool designed to amplify a user’s ability to detect subtle surface flaws undetectable by the human touch alone. Its simple, power-free design allows it to be worn on the hand, enhancing tactile perception and enabling the recording of sensing data for anomaly detection. With its potential for broad integration, Tacthancer is poised to unlock new possibilities in sensing applications across various industries.
