Hakob Karapetyan, the former press secretary of the Yerevan Municipality, gave details of how official texts in Turkish appeared in Yerevan’s public transport.

“And did you know that there are official inscriptions in Turkic language in the public transport of the capital of Armenia?

Let me say at once that there is no conspiracy here, but only incompetence, “headless” work and contempt for the state and the law. Now, as they say, you will know “firsthand” how it turned out.

So, in 2021, when the municipality ordered 211 Zhongtong buses, Mayor Hayk Marutyan instructed that in the conditions of the purchase tender, it must be stated that all the writings on the new buses should be in Armenian, English and Russian languages (in this order, Armenian in a larger font). . The process was coordinated by the Deputy Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, and as a result, when the first batch of buses arrived in Yerevan, we found out that the writings prepared by our Chinese colleagues were a little mixed up, to put it mildly: Russian appeared first instead of Armenian, besides, the Armenian writings, to put it mildly, , were poorly translated, and the Latin writings turned out not to be in English, but in some unknown language. Using Google Translate, I found out that it is Kazakh or Kyrgyz. Since Kazakhstan recently switched from Cyrillic to the Latin alphabet, we concluded that it is the Kazakh language.

Probably, there was an order from Kazakhstan at that time, and the Latin script was confused at the factory.

However. Naturally, buses with these inscriptions could not be commissioned. Therefore, the people in charge were reprimanded, and I was instructed to develop proper inscriptions and, together with the transport department, to change the inscriptions of all buses, which was done before the buses were released to the line. And on the buses of the first batch you can see proper writings in Armenian, English and Russian languages.

But in December 2021, as is known, the KP dismissed Mayor Marutyan, and that change was not made in the buses that came after that, maybe because there was no desire, or maybe the new managers don’t consider it important or for some other reason (you can suggest options in the comments) .

By the way, the first time I saw this situation, I immediately informed Hrach Sargsyan, who held the position of the mayor at that time and now the deputy minister of defense, in a private letter. He thanked for informing, but in fact neither during his time nor his successors, these writings were never changed. I repeat, I don’t see a conspiracy of Turkish fans here, but only incompetence, hard work and contempt for the state and laws.

P.S. By the way, these are the same buses whose purchase was tried to be aborted by the CP members, allegedly because they are of poor quality, but after removing Marutyun, they ordered several hundred more of the same buses,” Karapetyan wrote on his social media page.
