The 22nd Commonwealth Games in which 72 countries participated began with a grand opening ceremony on the 28th of last month in Birmingham, England. As the games come to an end today, the closing ceremony of the series will be held on August 9 at 12.30 am IST.

In this Commonwealth Games, India has won a total of 61 medals including 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze and finished at the 4th place in the medal list. For the first time, women’s cricket was introduced at the Commonwealth Games.

India lost to world champions Australia by 9 runs in a thrilling women’s cricket final yesterday. The Indian team won the silver medal.

Jemima Rodrigues, the star player of the Indian team, has released a heartfelt post about the defeat in the final. In a post on his Instagram page, he said, “This team is different. The grit and determination shown by our team throughout this series has been outstanding.

There were many great moments. But at the same time I think cricket never stops teaching us. We will not stop until we convert this silver medal into gold.”
