Diego Tarzia Completes Move to Vitória in Brazilian Serie A

Brazilian club Vitória has secured the services of forward Diego Tarzia from Independiente, initiating a transfer deal structured with both an initial purchase and a future obligation. The move marks a new chapter for the 22-year-old winger, who found himself increasingly sidelined at his former club.

Vitória will initially acquire 5% of Tarzia’s transfer rights for $200,000. However, the agreement includes a mandatory purchase obligation to acquire an additional 75% of the player’s rights for $2.6 million. Should Vitória not exercise this obligation, Independiente will regain ownership of the initial 5% stake, and Tarzia would be required to return to the Argentinian club.

The decision to allow Tarzia to depart stems from a challenging period for the player at Independiente. He had been linked with a potential move to San Lorenzo, but ultimately found his opportunities limited under manager Gustavo Quinteros. Independiente has endured a recent stretch of six consecutive away games, and the club reportedly needed to free up roster space.

Throughout his time with Independiente, Tarzia appeared in 64 official matches across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing four assists. His most recent appearance came in a tie against Newell’s, where he played 23 minutes.

Despite previously holding a €20 million termination clause – reflecting a higher valuation at the time – Independiente ultimately determined that a transfer was the best course of action, particularly given Tarzia’s contract extended until December 2027. The club will retain 20% ownership of the player’s economic rights.

This transfer represents a strategic move for Vitória, who did not qualify for any international competitions, as they bolster their squad for the Brazilian Serie A season.
