by Liam O'Connor Sports Editor

Guatemala is offering free judo classes to people of all ages and abilities, starting with children as young as four years old, thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Sports. The program, led by a highly experienced instructor, aims to promote physical and emotional well-being through the discipline of judo.

The academy is led by instructor Mynor Domínguez, who has 35 years of experience in this discipline. He is a 4th Dan Black Belt and has been a five-time Central American champion, a career that supports the quality and commitment of the training provided to beneficiaries.

The coach highlights that judo is an inclusive and accessible sport for all ages, from boys and girls from 4 years old, adolescents, adults and seniors. In addition, it promotes inclusion, since there are competitions adapted for blind people.

Development and stimulation

The practice of judo contributes to the development and stimulation of the prefrontal cortex, which favors decision-making under pressure and emotional regulation. Likewise, constant training allows students to overcome challenges in different disciplines, improve their physical and mental performance, and strengthen their self-esteem.

Instructor Domínguez emphasizes that judo does not encourage aggressiveness; On the contrary, through coexistence and training with their peers, people learn fundamental values such as cooperation, respect, self-control and discipline.
