The maximum traffic speed will also be reduced in the Paris region.

Saturday promises to be the hottest day of the week in the Paris region, with temperatures approaching 37 degrees during the afternoon. If the temperatures should then go down again, the authorities nevertheless anticipate a peak in pollution. And therefore, the temporary restoration of differentiated circulation to deal with it. This measure will concern Paris, but also the departments located inside the A86 motorway, namely Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne.

Thus, the Prefecture of Police details that from 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, only vehicles with a Crit’Air sticker of class 0, 1 and 2 will be able to circulate in these areas. The prefect therefore effectively prohibits the circulation of Crit’air 5 vehicles (already prohibited from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday in Paris), Crit’air 4 and Crit’air 3.

In addition, in Île-de-France, the maximum speed on portions of motorways will be reduced. Those usually limited to 130km/h will be temporarily limited to 110km/h, those at 110km/h will be lowered to 90km/h. Finally, roads usually limited to 80km/h and 90km/h will have a maximum speed of 70km/h.

More generally, motorists in the Paris region are called upon to reduce their speed by 10 km/h. These speed limits will continue on Saturday in Ile-de-France, until the end of the pollution episode, while heavy goods vehicles will be asked to bypass the region. Regarding the day of Sunday, and if the episode of pollution were to continue, the prefect called for the differentiated traffic to be respected “with discernment” to ensure “the good conduct of the legislative elections».

To enable Ile-de-France residents to cope with these restrictions, Île-de-France Mobilités will at the same time offer, still from Saturday and until the end of the pollution episode, a “anti-pollution package» allowing you to use almost all public transport in the region for 3.80 euros. Carpooling will also be free for all Ile-de-France residents without means testing, up to two journeys per day, for journeys of less than 30 km.
