Kochi: The High Court will today hear a petition filed by five accused, including actor Dileep, seeking anticipatory bail in a case of conspiracy to endanger the investigating officer in the case of assault on the actress. According to Dileep, Crime Branch DySP Baiju Paulus has filed a new case against him in retaliation.
However, the probe team will inform the court that the investigation is progressing and that Dileep needs to be questioned and evidence collected. Besides Dileep, his brother Anoop and sister’s husband TN Sooraj. Relative Appu and friend Baiju Chengamanadu have also filed the petition.
The main allegation in Dileep’s plea is that the prosecution witnesses in the case of attacking the actress were weak. The petition is being heard by Justice P Gopinath. The probe team will also inform the court about the inspection conducted at Dileep’s house and establishment yesterday to collect evidence in the case.
Police raided the homes and premises of Dileep and his relatives and seized mobile phones and hard disks. The investigation was to find the footage of the rape of the actress and to seize the gun which was allegedly in Dileep’s possession.
The crime branch arrived at various centers around 12 noon on Thursday. The police had also obtained permission from the court to conduct raids in the case of assault on the actress and death threats. The search was carried out at Dileep’s house in Aluva and his brother Anoop’s house at the Grant Productions office owned by them. The gate was closed for a long time in front of the officials who reached Dileep’s Padmasarovar home.
Crime Branch officials who jumped over the gate and the wall said they would not return without checking. Finally, Dileep’s sister came and opened the door. Dileep had also called his lawyers
The inspection of Padmasarovar was completed at 7 pm. Dileep’s three mobile phones, a computer hard disk, two iPods and a pen drive were seized. Director Balachandra Kumar says that the footage of the attack on the actress has reached Dileep. Grant Productions is investigating whether the footage reached their production company.
According to Balachandra Kumar, Dileep was in possession of a firearm when he threatened to endanger five officials in the case. The raid was also for this.
