Bangalore: Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has praised Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, saying, “He has been selected for the team because of his uniqueness.”
Dinesh Karthik, 37, has given a comeback to the Indian team after almost three years. He was selected in the Indian team for the 15th IPL season by his outstanding performance for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.
He is getting ready to play in the Ireland series after finishing playing in the South African series. In this context, Rahul Dravid has revealed the reason behind Dinesh Karthik’s choice to play for the Indian team.
“The reason he was selected for the team was because of his uniqueness. His ability gave us a big hand in the Rajkot match. He showed great play in the last five overs. The way he and Hardik Pandya ended the match was amazing.
For now I think they are both among the international cricketers who have put up a great performance in the last overs. Karthik is doing exactly what role he has been selected for in the team. I hope it will help us access the game with additional option in the coming days. An innings like that would all say the same thing. Dinesh Karthik was unbeaten on 55 off 27 balls against South Africa at the Rajkot ground. Tadravit was referring to that innings. Dravid’s comment is that Dinesh Karthik is definitely likely to feature in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
