Flávio Dino criticized the judge’s speeches and said he would call the authorities

The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, said this Saturday (15) that he will sue the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) against judge Mário Helton Jorge for the crime of racism. Dino stated that Helton Jorge was xenophobic comparing the culture of Paraná with those of the North and Northeast regions of the country.

In a session of the Court of Justice of Paraná, the judge said that “Paraná has a higher cultural level than the North and Northeast”. He would comment on corruption scandals in the state.

“Because it’s widespread robbery. And that’s in Paraná, which is a state that has a higher cultural level than the North of the country, the Northeast, etc. It’s a country that doesn’t have the political game of other states. Here in Paraná, it’s a shame,” said the judge.

Flávio Dino took to social media to criticize Mário Helton Jorge’s speeches. He even leveled the judge’s speech to the crime of racism.

“We need an anti-racist Justice in Brazil. And that is why we are going to send to the CNJ and the MPF the case of the judge who propagated that a State has a “superior cultural level” to other regions, in a discriminatory approach. Law 7716/89″, said Dino

The repercussions of the case led the Court of Paraná to issue a note denying the xenophobic content in the judge’s speech. In the document, the TJ-PR said that Helton Jorge regretted the case and apologized for his speech.

“There was no intention of belittling or making a prejudiced comparison against any person, institution or region. The magistrate regrets what happened and sincerely apologized for the comment”.
