In an outstanding joint action between the Anti Maras and Gangs Police Directorate against Organized Crime (DIPAMPCO) and the National Directorate of Investigation and Intelligence (DNII), the arrest of two individuals allegedly linked to Gang 18 in the neighborhood was carried out. The detainees were identified as a 21-year-old man known as alias “Memo”, who has a history of previous crimes such as drug trafficking in 2019 and extortion in 2020, and another 40-year-old citizen known in the criminal world as “El Peludo”, previously arrested in 2018 for a scandalous incident on public roads.
During the search carried out by the authorities, it was discovered that the individuals were carrying a homemade “Chimba” type weapon, considered highly dangerous, along with 75 packages that allegedly contained marijuana.
As a result of this operation, both individuals will be presented before the Criminal Court of La Ceiba, Atlántida, to face charges of drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm for permitted use, in accordance with the pertinent laws of the country.
