Fourteen performances, four of which from the groups of the Municipal Regional Theatre, will be presented in this year’s “Amateur May” which starts next Monday, the 13th of the month.
For one more year, the theatre-loving public will have the opportunity to enjoy a multitude of performances for free, staged by theater groups from schools, clubs and cultural institutions in the area.
The program of the performances will be announced in the coming days, with the president of DIPETHE Ioannina Georgios Kapsalis inviting the people of Ioannina to support the performances with their presence, and noting that the aim of the Theater is also in the future, as happened for the first time in the performance “The Slaves” that was completed, to provide equal access to all citizens to the performances, given that it now has the necessary equipment.
In Athens the “801.5 m.”
In the meantime, the DIPETHE of Ioannina will collaborate with the “Jeni Karezi” theater in Athens, where the play “801.5m”, an earlier production of the Theater, with references to the case of V. Giakoumakis, will be presented, for six performances, on the 20 , 21, 27, 28 May and 3, 4 June.
“The theme of the play, which refers to the tragic event that happened in our city, is unfortunately still in the news. We invite the public to support this initiative, which highlights an important issue, but at the same time it also showcases our theater to the wider public of Athens”, noted Mr. Kapsalis.
Waiting for Art Director
Both Mr. Kapsalis and the mayor Thomas Begas are in regular contact with the Ministries of Interior and Culture regarding the announcement of the position of artistic director at the DIPETHE Ioannina. The assessment is that the process will soon be completed on the part of the co-competent ministries.
Finally, in the priorities of the administration of DIPETHI in view of the summer, is the summer show, but also the organization of the Summer Oracle in Dodoni. “We want to upgrade it and make it truly a workshop for all interested parties,” noted Mr. Kapsalis.
