Diplomatic representations of the European Union in Ukraine will not be closed, said on Saturday, February 12, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

The diplomatic missions of the EU and its member states “remain in Kiev and will continue their work in support of EU citizens and in cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities,” Borrell tweeted.

The report notes that the presence of the staff of the EU diplomatic mission in Ukraine and travel recommendations will be “adjusted taking into account the security situation.”

Representations of Germany in Ukraine reduce staff

On the same day, it became known that the German authorities called on German citizens to leave Ukraine. The German Foreign Ministry reported that the staff of German missions in Ukraine is being reduced.

On the eve of February 10, US President Joe Biden called on Americans in Ukraine to leave the country immediately because of the threat of war with Russia, after which Australia, Great Britain, Norway, Canada, Latvia, Estonia, the Netherlands, Montenegro, Japan and South Korea.

Earlier, on February 9, the head of EU diplomacy, Borrell, said he doubted the possibility of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. According to him, Moscow is putting pressure on Kiev because it wants to participate in security talks in Europe.
