The passage of the Immigration law was the last straw. The deputy related to the Horizons group Yannick Favennec-Bécot announced on Friday his departure from the group linked to Édouard Philippe, following disagreements over pension reform and the Immigration law, he explained in an interview with West France.

“I always support Édouard Philippe and the President, however, underlined the deputy, but I have the guarantee of preserving my values. »

“The starting point was the pension reform (…) For me, it was necessary to base it on the number of quarters contributed”, rather than on the starting age, detailed the MP for Mayenne, estimating that his colleagues had “marginalized, ostracized, judged” him. He publicly expressed his reservations about the bill at the time.

“I made the decision to leave”

In December, the deputy member of the presidential camp voted against the immigration bill in the version released by the joint committee, strongly marked to the right by the compromises made to the Republicans. “Of course, we must regulate, with firmness but also humanity. The text that came out of the National Assembly was only about firmness. So I voted against it. And made the decision to leave, which will be effective on Monday,” he explained.

He announced that he was joining the independents of Liot, made up of elected officials from the left, the right and overseas deputies, which was confirmed by an internal source in the group. Under the previous legislature, Yannick Favennec-Bécot had already been part of the former “Libertés et Territoires” group for a time, which included current members of Liot, including President Bertrand Pancher.

After the forceps adoption of the immigration law in the Assembly, the deputy for Finistère Jean-Charles Larsonneur had already left the Horizons group, to sit among the non-registered. “This text breaks dikes” and “leads towards a very dangerous slope for the country”, he justified.
