Oldenburg – Long blonde hair, flawless skin, 46 kilos at 1.58 meters. Yedda Garcia (19) is about to have a big modeling career. But behind this photo there is a story of pain and suffering. Diagnosis: endometriosis. A chronic gynecological disease that affects around ten percent of all women of childbearing age.
She could hide at home in Oldenburg and despair. But Yedda accepts her fate, saying: “There is a meaning behind everything in life, even behind serious illnesses.”

Without a high school diploma
She doesn’t want to give up her dream of a modeling career. In BILD she explains why: “I want to use my story to encourage other sick girls and women not to give up.”
The ordeal began with her first menstruation, when Yedda was twelve. “I suffered from abdominal pain and looked as pale as a corpse. I couldn’t eat anything anymore, everything came out immediately. I was no longer me, I only weighed 38 kilos.” She left high school in the tenth grade without graduating.

Regional clinic made the diagnosis
Doctors and professors searched for the cause for five years, without any concrete findings. “It was particularly bad for me that they then blamed it on the psychology.”
The diagnosis was only made in a regional clinic in 2018. Since then, Yedda has managed the disease with tablets and an anti-inflammatory diet and is now even getting her high school diploma. In addition to modeling, she sings and dances. She is fighting for her career.

What is Endometriosis:
Endometriosis is a painful, chronic disease in which tissue grows outside the uterus, primarily in the abdominal cavity and ovaries. This abnormal tissue responds to the menstrual cycle, causing pain and can cause infertility. The exact reason is unclear. Treatment often includes surgical removal of the affected tissue and hormonal therapy to control the cycle.
