The 2026 target

tripped from Friday 14 January the ban in Italy on the use of single-use plastics. Thus the green revolution comes into force which transposes the EU Directive “Sup” (Single Use Plastic) of 2019 and provided for by legislative decree 196, published in the Official Journal of 30 November last. From now on, our country is trying to put a stop to plastic pollution, which is also suffocating our Mediterranean, by abolishing some disposable products in common use. These are those made with plastic non biodegradable and non compostable, in addition to fishing gear containing plastic. As the WWF points out, today about 80% of the waste found on European beaches consists of plastic and 50% of marine litter is made up of disposable plastics. The aim is to see quantifiable results by 2026. Then, in 2027, the directive and its operation will be revised on the basis of the results achieved. On that occasion, biodegradable plastics, currently included in the directive without differentiation, will also be reconsidered. But what are the everyday objects that from now on will have to be replaced by green products? Let’s see it in detail.
