by time news

The celebration of Diwali in Coimbatore has led to a spike in air pollution levels, with the bursting of firecrackers causing a maximum reading of 197 points. The Pollution Control Board measured the air pollution at two locations, Goundampalayam and the District Administration Office, with readings of 187 and 197 points respectively.

The standard for air pollution levels categorizes a maximum of more than 200 points as poor, and between 201 and 300 points as very bad. Despite the high readings in Coimbatore, it has been revealed that the level of pollution is not at a dangerous level.

As the city continues to celebrate Diwali, it is important for residents to be aware of the impact of firecrackers on the environment and take measures to reduce air pollution. The authorities have urged people to celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly manner to mitigate the impact on air quality.
