Djokovic loses world number one title after losing to Dubai Open
The ATP Tennis Tournament is being held in Dubai. World No. 1 Djokovic defeated world number one Djokovic 6-4, 7-6 in the quarterfinals on Thursday night. The Republican qualifier lost to Jiri Wesley.
Djokovic has since lost his world’s number one hero status, which he has held since February 2020.
Djokovic, who lost to Wesley in a two-hour match, also missed out on a chance to win the Dubai Open title for the 6th time.
Thus Medvedev became the number one hero in Russian hero Dane.
Aussie won the title at the US Open last September. Medvedev has also been a runner-up at the Open for the past two years.
