Chennai: As the parliamentary elections are coming in April or May, the main political parties of Tamil Nadu including DMK, AIADMK and BJP have started their election activities. In this, the DMK, which plays an important role in the India alliance, is holding seat-sharing talks with other parties in their alliance. In that regard, today (February 4) DMK held talks with its allies, the Communist Party of India and the Revival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

The meeting was held at Anna University, Thenampet, Chennai. While talks with the Congress and the Communist Party of India had been completed earlier, today (Feb. 4) the DMK engaged in talks with the Marxist Communist Party and the Madhyamik Party.

Ministers KN Nehru, I. Periyasamy, MRK Panneerselvam, Parliamentarians Tiruchi Siva and A. Raza have been included in the committee headed by Member of Parliament TR Balu on behalf of DMK.

B. Sampath, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India, who met the media after the talks on the constituency distribution, said, “The talks between the DMK and the Communist Party regarding the constituency distribution in the parliamentary elections were held smoothly. Having won the Coimbatore and Madurai constituencies last time uncontested, the CPM’s plan is to seek additional constituencies this time. We have conveyed our decision to the alliance leadership. We are hopeful that an agreement will be reached on the constituency once the Chief Minister returns from his foreign trip,” he said.

Similarly, the MDMK election committee, which met the media after the seat sharing talks with the MDMK, said, “We are definitely going to contest this parliamentary election on our party symbol. We have asked the DMK for two Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha seats.

And the results will be informed after DMK chief Stalin returns from abroad. However, it has not been decided in which constituency we are contesting. An announcement about it will be made soon,” said the MDMK.
