The State Election Commission has announced that the urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu will be held on February 19 in a single phase. State Election Commissioner Palanikumar said the counting of votes would take place on February 22. As a result, leaders of political parties, including the DMK, AIADMK, Congress and BJP, have been busy campaigning.
In this context, party coordinator O. Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy held consultations with senior executives at the AIADMK office this morning. During the consultation, discussions were held on continuing the alliance with the BJP and allocating seats. All the 8 District Secretaries in Chennai have been invited to come up with a list of candidates for the wards in their respective constituencies. So it seems that the eligible candidates to contest in the Chennai Municipal Election will be decided.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the consultation with senior executives, Jayakumar said, “The DMK is the party that has suffered the most in the short term. The parties that face the election together with the AIADMK will win. Law and order has deteriorated since the DMK came to power. The guards themselves are not safe. The answer to all this is that people will vote for the AIADMK in this election. ”
