Gold Thief apprehended Near Bangladesh Border Following Kozhikode Heist
A West Bengal native has been arrested in connection with the theft of 45 sovereigns of gold from a doctorS residence in Chevarambalam, Kozhikode. The suspect, identified as Kumar Thaha, was apprehended by Chewayur Police near the bangladesh border, and the stolen gold has been recovered.
The incident, which initially surfaced with fragmented reports, involved a targeted theft at the home of a physician in Kozhikode. Initial accounts suggested a possible “bowling out” of the doctor’s house, a detail that remains unclear, but authorities have confirmed the meaningful loss of gold.
According to police reports, the inquiry involved a meticulous review of approximately 250 CCTV footage clips and mobile tower data, ultimately leading to Thaha’s identification and capture. “The suspect was located and apprehended thanks to diligent investigative work and cross-border coordination,” a senior official stated.
The accused reportedly arrived “at the feet of the work of work with girls,” a phrase that requires further clarification but appears to relate to his movements or associations prior to the theft. Authorities are currently investigating whether Thaha acted alone or had assistance in planning and executing the robbery.
The victim, a PG Doctor at the Medical College – identified as Dr. Gayatri – discovered the theft when she found the gold missing from shelves within her home. The method of entry involved tampering with the door, with evidence suggesting it was “injected” to gain access.
Following the arrest, police conducted a thorough examination of the doctor’s house and surrounding premises. Investigators are exploring all possible angles, including whether anyone with knowledge of the doctor’s routine or property layout may have been involved.
“The accused will be presented in court tomorrow,” authorities confirmed. The recovered gold is currently being held as evidence. The investigation remains ongoing as police seek to determine the full extent of Thaha’s criminal activity and any potential accomplices.
