At the Medical College Hospital, 2,200 people sought treatment in the OP department. 120 people were hospitalized. On an average, 3,000 people visit the OP on Mondays. Many OPs came because they needed to see a doctor immediately because of the doctors’ strike.

There were only half the doctors in many OPs. Doctors went to the OP departments and examined the patients without looking at the units. This is why testing on many OPs can be completed in the evening. The examination was completed at 5.15 pm at the Nephrology Department OP. A total of 156 people sought treatment yesterday. About 200 people usually seek treatment.

Initially there was a doctor in the OP. The evening examination was completed as 3 more doctors came from all over the ward and dialysis unit. Patients are usually examined in the afternoon in most OP departments. About 350 people sought treatment in medicine and cardiology. The emergency department was less crowded. The assistant professors immediately looked after the patients and gave them the necessary treatments. The services of senior residents were also available. Steps have been taken to appoint 72 non-academic junior residents. About 120 people attended the meeting yesterday.

House surgeons and medical students demonstrated in solidarity with the struggle of PG doctors. PG Association Representative Dr. Dr. Anjana Suresh, President, House Surgeons Association; K. Rashid, Secretary Dr. K. Naveen and University Union Councilor Faiz Moosa addressed the gathering.

Govt of Kerala supports PG doctors’ strike Officials of the Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA) went on strike. The appointed state president said the government should pay the 4% increase in the stipend without asking. Nirmal Bhaskar said. PG doctors are those who work without looking at the time, including the Kovid period. He said the KGMCTA had all the support for the strike. Unit President Dr. VT Ajith Kumar, Secretary Dr. T. Gopakumar, Treasurer Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Maya Sudhakar and others were present.
