Does France have a problem with science?

A Frenchman among the winners of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics is rare enough to be highlighted. No scientist is among the government advisers, unlike our European neighbours. And the mistrust of the French towards science does not seem to stop spreading, favored in particular by the Covid-19 crisis. How to explain this situation ?
