Burgas is introducing a pilot model for the protection of public order – trained dogs wearing police vests will patrol together with officers from the “Specialized Police Forces” at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The foot patrols will patrol the central streets of the city “Alexandrovska” and “Bogoridi”, the areas around the train station and the bus station, as well as the Sea Garden, the directorate announced.
The innovative patrols are part of the initiatives of the management of ODMVR Burgas, undertaken after the meeting held at the beginning of the month on security issues, organized by the permanent committee on public order and security of the Burgas Municipal Council.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the management of the ODMVR – Burgas, the “Security Police” department and the city’s regional offices, and some of the topics discussed were related to the movement of bicycles and scooters on pedestrian areas and sidewalks in Burgas, the control of indiscriminate parking of cars on the streets of emergency lights, the taking of dogs without the use of a lead and the restriction of vehicles making noise above the permissible norm.
A decision was made to reorganize the security of the central part of the city, with joint patrols of officers from “Public Order and Security” of the Municipality of Burgas and police officers, including those with service dogs, moving along the pedestrian areas. To them in the area there will also be bike patrols at the Sea Garden, police spokeswoman Tsvetelina Randeva specified.
