Dolly Parton Regrets Turning Down Tea Invitation with Princess Kate During London Trip

Country music icon Dolly Parton recently revealed that she had to decline an invitation to have tea with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, during a recent visit to London. Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio 2’s Sally Traffic, Parton expressed regret about not being able to find enough time to enjoy the sights and meet people while in the city for work.

Parton shared that she had received an invitation to have tea with Kate but couldn’t accept it due to her busy schedule promoting her upcoming rock album, “Rockstar.” She jokingly mentioned that since the Princess wouldn’t be promoting her album, she had to decline the tea invitation.

“I even got invited to have tea with Kate, and I felt so bad I couldn’t even go,” Parton said. “But I hope she hears it, though!”

Parton’s album, “Rockstar,” has garnered much anticipation as it features collaborations with music legends such as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Debbie Harry, and Stevie Nicks. The album is a concept piece inspired by Parton’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, an honor she initially tried to decline, believing she hadn’t “earned that right.”

While Parton missed the opportunity to have tea with Kate Middleton, it is not her first encounter with royalty. She previously performed at Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee celebration in 1977.

Despite missing the chance this time, Parton remains hopeful for another opportunity to meet Princess Kate in the future. “One of these days, I’m going to be able to do that,” she said.

“Rockstar” is set to be released worldwide on November 17th.
