by time news

LIVERPOOL – MANCHESTER ⁢CITY 2-0:

A manchester City in‌ a challenging position had to win against a soaring Liverpool to⁣ not fall too far ‌behind in ⁢the title race in the Premier League, but Sunday’s big‍ match was yet another disappointing affair for Erling Braut Haaland and company.

Liverpool dominated the light blues for large ‍portions of the match, and could ‌have almost decided ⁢the contest before the first half hour was over.

Instead, Liverpool‍ scored one in each half, courtesy of‌ Coady ⁤Gakpo and Mohammad Salah, delivering a strong ⁢performance that ultimately earned them three points.

– It is a presentation of power ⁤by Liverpool, summed ‍up commentator Tor Ole Skullerud.

Liverpool now leads the Premier League with‍ a nine-point advantage over⁤ Arsenal after 13 rounds. The gap down to City is a full eleven⁣ points.

The red-clad team shot out of the starting blocks and created‌ major problems for the City defence in the⁣ beginning.

A good Ortega in the City goal and the post saved the away team on several occasions,‍ but eventually it found the‍ net for Liverpool. ⁢

Salah found Gakpo ‌with an exquisite pass at the back post, and the Dutchman could‌ poke in the lead.

Liverpool continued their ⁣assault‍ and could have scored both once and twice more in the first 20 minutes.

City manager Pep Guardiola was obviously vrey dissatisfied with what he saw at anfield.‌

– This may well get⁣ ugly⁢ for City. Pep entirely loses⁤ it on the sidelines, ⁣wrote Sky Sports’ ⁣Laura Hunter, who was‌ in the stands closely following the City bench.

Arne Slot would probably have liked the lead⁣ to be bigger at halftime based on the chances, but the Dutchman⁣ had to settle for a one-goal⁤ advantage.

Salah’s blunder: – How is that possible?

Liverpool’s wastefulness continued after the break.

Then‌ the City defense massively messed up, and a red-hot ⁣Salah broke free with only the goalkeeper to beat.

The⁤ Egyptian has been in fantastic goal form in recent weeks but failed to convert the gift prospect into a ⁢goal. Instead,⁣ it resulted in a ⁢weak ‍finish ⁤well over the goal.

– How⁢ is that possible?, exclaimed Wikestad from the commentary box.

As City was starting ‍to work⁤ their way back into the game, Salah made up for⁢ it.

Diaz was fouled inside the penalty area by Ortega –‍ and referee Kavanagh ‍pointed ‍to the penalty spot.

Forward went the 32-year-old, who, unlike midweek against Real Madrid, slotted the ball into the net and confirmed the result to be 2–0.

Haaland ‍was, ‍like the‌ rest of the City attack, very anonymous and struggled to influence the match.
