Former President Trump Attends South Carolina vs. Clemson Football Game

Former President Donald Trump made an appearance at the annual Clemson vs. University of South Carolina football game on Saturday, November 25th, as he continues to lead in the race for the Republican nomination for President in 2024.

The streets surrounding Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., where the game was held, were shut down as Trump arrived for the game. Upon entering the stadium, he was greeted by a large crowd, some of whom chanted expletives directed at President Joe Biden, while others chanted “U-S-A!”

Trump’s visit comes just before the First in the South GOP presidential primary, with the winner of the South Carolina Republican primary historically having a significant impact on the eventual GOP nomination. Trump is currently leading in the polls in South Carolina, with the latest Winthrop University Poll showing him with 52% support among Republicans.

At the game, Trump was joined by several prominent South Carolina politicians, including U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, Governor Henry McMaster, First Lady Peggy McMaster, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, and State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, among others. Trump’s visit was in support of McMaster, who had invited him to the game as a guest.

Ahead of the game, Trump’s campaign announced 30 new endorsements in South Carolina, including several state senators and representatives, showcasing his strong support in the state.

However, not everyone welcomed Trump’s visit. The South Carolina Democratic Party called his visit a “photo op out of desperation” and electronic billboards in the Columbia area taunted Trump with messages such as “You Lost. You’re Guilty.”

Trump’s attendance at the Clemson vs. South Carolina game comes after a similar appearance at the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game earlier this year, where he was joined by several other Republican figures.

This is a developing story, and further details are expected to emerge.
