Boxes, boxes and more boxes. The indictment shows them in photos, stacked in the ballroom or near the toilets, lined up against the walls under the golden ceilings from Mar-a-Lago Palace. The hundreds of boxes of documents taken by Trump from the White House and stored in the various rooms of his private residence in Palm Beach are at the center of his indictment by American justice. The indictment, the document that makes Trump the first president in U.S. history to face a federal indictment, was released on Friday.

Most of the 37 counts relate to the willful withholding of national defense documents in violation of the Espionage Act of 1917. Trump is also charged with conspiring to obstruct justice, withheld documents as part of a federal investigation and made false statements. Like in a room…
