Sultanpur: Union Minister Kaushal Kishore has requested that “no one should give their daughters or sisters in marriage to alcoholics”.

A recovery program from drug addiction took place yesterday in Lambua assembly constituency in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Kausal Kishore was present. He spoke on the occasion:

I was an MP. My wife was an MLA. My son Akash Kishore along with his friends got addicted to alcohol. We admitted him to a de-addiction center. We married him after 6 months hoping that he would give up drinking. But even after that he started drinking alcohol. That habit led him to death. When my son Akash died 2 years ago, my grandson was 2 years old.

I could not save my son. My daughter-in-law became a widow. You save your daughters and sisters from such tragedy. Alcoholics have a shorter lifespan. A non-drinking worker makes a better groom than a drunken official groom. Therefore, I request you not to marry the women of your household to alcoholics.

This is what he said.
