Doppelganger hopes for a photo with the real Jens Spahn

Mirco Budde looks strikingly similar to the CDU politician, which is why he dressed up as Jens Spahn at the carnival. The Düsseldorfer could hardly save himself from photo requests.

Mirco Budde is 25 years old and lives in the Bilk district of Düsseldorf. He leads an ordinary life, works as a key account manager. But on the last few days of the carnival, the young man suddenly found himself the center of attention. It was so big that Budde couldn’t really celebrate at times because everyone wanted to take a souvenir photo with him. The reason for this: his costume.

In any case, Budde cannot deny a similarity to CDU politician and former Health Minister Jens Spahn. That’s why he’s asked about this similarity three to ten times a week, which is why he now thought to Altweiber: This year I’m just going to go to Carnival as Jens Spahn.

In preparation for the crazy days, the 25-year-old researched how he could look more like the politician. He paid attention to Spahn’s glasses and hair, slipped into a suit and even went into detail: he had autograph cards printed and got a lapel pin from the CDU as well as chocolate with the party logo on the packaging to distribute. He also made a suitcase filled with play money with the inscription Mask Deals on it.

The finished result in the carnival: Mirco Budde became a confusingly similar Jens Spahn. His “costume” didn’t go unnoticed on the streets of the old town and caused great enthusiasm among the Jecken, “and that in every target group,” he says. When a video of him going off the rails went viral on TikTok, he was done for. “Celebrating without a care in the world: rather no. I probably had to take 400 to 500 photos with people I had never seen in my life before. But everyone was super friendly, really happy and it was great to see everyone happy,” says the 25-year-old told t-online the day after Shrove Monday.

Budde doesn’t yet know whether he will go back to the role of Jens Spahn in the next session. He still has to laugh when he thinks about the past few days and the encouragement he received. But what is certain: If a film production needs a Spahn double, “then of course I’m available,” says Bilker, who is also hoping for a call from the real Jens Spahn. “A photo of the two of us – that would be my biggest dream.” His cell phone number is easy to google.
