DOSBox Pure is an emulator derived from DOSBox. Its development goal is to simplify the use and operation of DOSBox, and it can work with RetroArch.

DOSBox Pure added the function of installing Windows 95/98 operating system and simulating Voodoo 2 3D accelerator card in the 0.9.5 update, and fixed many problems in subsequent versions. The author introduces the latest version 0.9.7. .

With the latest version of DOSBox Pure, players can directly enter the game screen after reading the packaged game file in RetroArch, and use the handle and joystick to play games that can only be operated through the keyboard, which is quite convenient to use.

In order to achieve this effect, the user needs to read the Windows 95/98 CD image file and install the operating system through the “Boot and Install New Operating System” function. After completion, the emulator will regard it as the RetroArch BIOS file. In order to avoid damage to the operating system file, it is recommended to open the “System → Advanced → Discard Disk Modifications” of the Core Option in the RetroArch menu to ensure that the file will not suffer any changes. Next, you can compress the Windows 95/98 game into a ZIP file and change the file extension to “.dosz”, then read the file through RetroArch and set Windows to start automatically. After entering the game, on the start screen of each game, save the real-time archive and save the automatic reading field, and set the controller Remap to complete the pre-operation.
