Double blow for Jorge Martin – rts.ch

by time news

Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) scored a double blow at Portimao. The Spaniard masterfully won the MotoGP race and took the lead in the championship.

Martin, who led from start to finish, was ahead of Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati) and Spanish rookie Pedro Acosta (GasGas). The latter thus got on the podium in his 2nd GP in the premier category. Jorge Martin celebrated the 6th victory of his career in MotoGP, the 16th in total.

In the championship, Martin, vice-champion in 2023, has 60 points. He precedes the South African Brad Binder (KTM) by 18 lengths and Bastianini by 21. Title holder, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) is 23 points behind. He was eliminated 3 laps from the end after catching Marc Marquez (Ducati-Gresini) who had just overtaken him.

The prize for bad luck goes to Maverick Vinales (Aprilia): the Spaniard, winner of the sprint, fell on the last lap after an engine problem while he was fighting for 2nd place.
