Ashok Selvan, who hails from Colony, is the captain of the Blue Star cricket team. Shantanu from another area is the captain of the Alpha cricket team. Both the teams are playing separately on the ground owned by the temple.
Once a dispute arises between them, they go head-to-head to prove who is the best team. Shantanu brings in professional cricketers for money and finds success.
At one point the professional cricketers and the coach insult Shantanu by saying he ‘should be eligible to play with us’. Ashok Selvan and Shantanu, who were their enemies, get together and prepare to play against professional cricketers to take revenge. Can they win the competition? That’s the rest of the story.
It is surprising that Ashok Selvan’s personality has changed beyond recognition in every way, like style, dress and appearance. He has portrayed the character of a young man from an average middle-class family without flinching.
There was no chance of seeing Shantanu like that before. He has shown all the talent inside very beautifully and amazingly. He sends all the balls that come his way to the boundary line, either to show his caste pride with his eyes or to bowl the opponents.
Keerthy Pandyan shows her acting skills very easily in the scenes where she flirts with her lover. Prithivirajan, Bhagavathy Perumal, Kumaravel, Divya Duraisamy, Lizzy Antony in supporting roles are all helping to move the film along.
Govind Vasantha music songs and background music are all quality. Tamil A.Azhagan makes us sit in the playground without any magic with world class cinematography. He has run and worked wherever the story travels like electric train, playground.
Director Jayakumar has told the story of the difference between talent and merit with sports as the background. The quality of his creativity and maturity in the way he portrayed the superiority of unity and who the real enemy is. The longer the back half, the less predictable scenes.
