Nahdlatul Ulama Unveils centennial Logo, Commemorating a Century of Indonesian Independence

A new logo symbolizing a century of service and a commitment to Indonesia’s future was launched this week by the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), one of the nation’s largest Islamic organizations. The unveiling coincided with the proclamation of the commemorative theme: “Guarding an Self-reliant Indonesia, towards a Noble Civilization.”

The launch took place Monday, January 5, 2025, during the 103rd NU Khatmil Qur’an and Istighotsah Harlah event held at the PBNU Building in Central Jakarta.According to a statement from the organization, preparations are underway for a major celebration of NU’s 100th anniversary on the Gregorian calendar, scheduled for January 31, 2026. This date marks the organization’s founding on 16 Rajab 1344 hijriah, which corresponds to january 31, 1926.

A Grand Celebration Planned for 2026

NU’s General Chairperson, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, known as gus Yahya, announced plans for a large-scale commemoration at the Gelora Bung Karno Main stadium (SU GBK) in Jakarta. While anticipating a significant turnout, Gus Yahya acknowledged the event may not match the scale of the previous centennial celebration in Sidoarjo in 1444 Hijriah, which drew millions of attendees. “God willing, we will hold a celebration too, hopefully it can be quite big, although not as big as the commemoration… in Sidoarjo,” Gus Yahya stated.
