Dozens of unidentified bodies were buried in a mass grave in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, after their restitution by Israel. Employees of the health ministry in the Gaza Strip, administered by Hamas, buried them near the tents of people displaced by the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
According to statements by Palestinian officials to Agence France-Presse (AFP), these corpses were exhumed by the Israeli army in cemeteries in the Gaza Strip.
The Jewish state has not, for the moment, wished to react. On January 18, the Israeli army confirmed to CNN that it had exhumed bodies to determine whether they were Israeli hostages. She then stated that, if this was not the case, these bodies were “returned with dignity and respect”.
