► Ukrainian drones shot down in Russian border areas
Russia has shot down 31 Ukrainian drones on its territory, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday morning, October 4.
“Air defense systems in service over the territory of the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions (bordering Ukraine, editor’s note) intercepted and destroyed 31 Ukrainian drones”, the ministry said on Telegram. There was no mention of possible injuries or damage.
► Landing attempt in Crimea repulsed
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported on Wednesday that it had repulsed an attempted landing of Ukrainian forces on the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2014. “In the north-western part of the Black Sea, the actions of an aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces stopped an attempt to penetrate the territory of Crimea by a landing group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”the ministry said.
These soldiers were heading towards Cape Tarkhankout, in the northwest of the peninsula, aboard a “fast military boat and three jet skis”. Moscow said several times this summer that it had destroyed Ukrainian military boats in the Black Sea that were sailing towards Crimea.

Joe Biden worked on Tuesday to reassure United States allies about the sustainability of American support for Ukraine, which depends on the outcome of budgetary discussions that are, to say the least, chaotic. The American president assured that he remained “optimistic about continued support from both parties and both houses” of the US Congress in kyiv, according to John Kirby, spokesperson for the National Security Council.
The US Congress has about a month and a half to adopt an annual budget, which should include a new envelope to finance military and humanitarian support for Ukraine.
