“The man was supposed to leave the local restaurant around 23:00, saying that he was going to the Fryšava village on foot. He did not have a mobile phone with him. We checked the medical facilities, including the possible dispatch of the medical emergency service – all with a negative result,” described police spokeswoman Dana Čírtková.
Not even the taxi drivers driving around knew about him. “The missing man was found shortly after 4:30 in the morning by police officers from the emergency department in a cold, drunken state in the bed of a stream in Kadovo, where he apparently fell while returning home from a local pub at night,” the spokeswoman said.
The man had only minor injuries that did not require the arrival of an ambulance, so the police handed him over to his family. “The policemen saved the man’s life, because given the place where he was and the outdoor climatic conditions, his life would have been fundamentally threatened by the morning,” says Dana Čírtková.
The third day of security measures was extremely difficult for the police, as 23,000 spectators arrived at the biathlon. The freezing weather made it possible to park visitors’ cars in the meadows near Jiříkovice and Maršovice. Despite the heavy traffic, the police only dealt with a minor traffic accident in the parking lot of the arena in connection with the sports event.
