The first report of an accident at the intersection of Geležinio Vilko st. and Ukmergė st. arrived at around 12:00 p.m. Initial reports indicated that several cars had collided on the hill after descending Ukmergė st.
Further reports followed regarding the incident.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the mangled Toyota Prius had veered off the road. Other vehicles remained on the roadway.
Witnesses estimated that a total of four cars, including a minibus, were involved in the collision.
Initial investigations suggest that the accident was caused by the reckless driving of the Toyota Prius driver, who was traveling at high speed and collided with a Toyota Yaras car, obstructed a Volkswagen minibus, and another Toyota vehicle.
Emergency medics transported the driver of one vehicle to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle that caused the collision was also hospitalized for further evaluation.
All drivers involved were sober, but the behavior of the Toyota Prius driver raised suspicion. The man was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
