“I thought we might escape it, but we certainly didn’t,” said Jacinta Cullen, a resident of Kars Station. In her decade living at Kars, Ms. Cullen stated she had never witnessed a dust storm of this magnitude. “One minute it was daylight, the next minute it was black,” she recounted. The aftermath has left a thick layer of dust covering everything. “there’s just layers of dirt, almost sand on everything in the house,” Ms. cullen explained, adding that the storm caused damage to shed roofs and water tanks.

Regrettably, the BOM predicts that the dry conditions will persist through autumn. While complete rainfall is not expected,the forecaster indicated that isolated showers and storms are still possible.
