E6 Closure Causes Delays

Stone debris forces road closure on E6 at Finneidfjord tunnel.

Authorities reported the E6 closed at the Finneidfjord tunnel at 16:08 due to stones on the roadway. The Norwegian Road Traffic Center stated that the road was shut until the debris could be cleared. Stones were located just outside the tunnel.

A representative from the Road Traffic Center indicated that a contractor was en route to the site. “It can take an hour before everything is arranged,” Arne Sætermo said.

The work to clear the E6 took longer than initially estimated, with an update at 17:10 noting the extended timeline. This was due to the need to ensure no further stone would dislodge.

“They are on site now and clean, but we have to be absolutely sure that there is no more stone down,” an update stated. A sign was in place to alert drivers.
