More than 77 aftershocks between 0.7 and 3 on the Richter scale occurred in Malatya province, in eastern turkey, after the 5.9 earthquake that happened at 10:46 in the morning in Calais and until 1:44 in the afternoon.
The focal depth of the earthquake was located at 10.07 kilometers, and the tremor was felt in the neighboring forerunners Elazig and his Diyarbakır, but also in the wider area, in Kahramanmaras, Erzincan, Tunceli, and Antiyaman, causing panic among the residents.

The Governor of Malatya, Sedar Yavuz, said in a statement that there was no collapse of the building, as all the buildings that were seriously damaged had already been demolished, and those that were under legal claim to be evacuated.
According to Yavuz “there is no loss of life or injuries, but citizens are in panic and related reports”. As he said, there were injuries from citizens due to panic. One of them jumped from the 2nd floor and is in a good condition in hospital.”
Schools are closed as a precaution for today.

The moment of the earthquake was captured live on ER TV, which is broadcast in the city, and the announcement was feared.
Although no loss of life or property has been reported, emergency teams are on alert as crews sweep the areas affected by the earthquake.
Officials warn that aftershocks may continue and urge citizens not to enter damaged buildings.
In total, the emergency services received 374 reports. “A total of 3 buildings were damaged, four people were rescued alive in a partially damaged building in Elazig and a rockfall occurred in an area of Malatya province,” reports AFAD.
A number of damaged buildings in the city were cordoned off and security measures were in place.
