Eching am Ammersee – Here 123 years of history are erased!

Yesterday morning, the excavators rolled in, demolished the Hans Beat Wieland house on Lake Ammer and destroyed the hopes of owner Claus Vogt (80) that the once listed house could still be saved (BILD reported). Police officers accompanied the demolition company.

He had violated the monument protection because of impermissible installations, the house was no longer protected and was therefore considered a black building. A community of interests made up of architects, artists and residents wanted to prevent the demolition at the last minute – in vain.

For the ex-mechanical engineer, it is hard to believe that the Landsberg district office enforced the demolition: “The house is gone, it’s unbelievable. The bureaucracy here is insane.”

He still doesn’t want to give up: “First of all, I want to remove the demolition marks and prepare the site nicely.” Nevertheless, the legal dispute had left its mark on him and his wife: “My wife didn’t come at all. She didn’t want to watch the demolition.” And the two of them are still faced with the big bill: “I don’t even know what the demolition company charges, it was commissioned by the district office. But I have to bear the costs.”

The Hans Beat Wieland House was built in 1899 by the Swiss landscape artist of the same name. Was called the “Norwegian House” at the Ammersee because of its unique red and white facade. In 1970 it received monument protection. Vogt and the interest group wanted to rebuild the house and even set up a small museum in honor of the artist.

Plans that Vogt at least continues to dream of: “I’m sticking to our construction plans: I want to rebuild the house as it was. If life was a movie, this would work. I’m currently still unsure whether the district administrator will support me.”
