New Delhi: The Education Ministry has adopted a tough stance to end the culture of dummy schools in the country. The ministry has asked CBSE to speed up action by identifying dummy schools. Sources in the Ministry say that such complaints and cases are coming to light that parents are taking their children out of the best schools and enrolling them in dummy schools. In good schools, the rule of 80 percent attendance is applicable for the students, but due to coaching, if the student does not want to go to school, then the parents expel the child from even a good school. Then that student studies only in coaching centers and his admission continues in dummy school. The student does not go to the dummy school.

Don’t rely on coaching centers, will have to go to school

Sources in the Education Ministry say that students cannot rely only on coaching centers to prepare for engineering-medical and other competitive examinations, they will have to go to school. Recently CBSE has canceled the recognition of about 20 schools across the country. 3 schools have been downgraded. These 20 schools also include schools from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, UP, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Delhi. CBSE investigation found data of dummy students in some schools. Academician and VSPK Education Society Chairman S. Of. Gupta says that after 12th, be it engineering, medical entrance test or CUET test for university admission, all of them follow NCERT syllabus. The syllabus is taught well in schools whereas in coaching centers it is not taught like in schools. He says that if the child wants to do coaching then of course he should do it but it cannot be done at the expense of the school.

The problem is bigger than it seems

As much as the problem of dummy schools and dummy students is visible, in reality its roots are even deeper. CBSE has so far taken action against only 20 schools, but action is needed on a larger scale to end the dummy culture. Considering the seriousness of the problem, the Education Ministry has also issued guidelines to CBSE. In the coming times, more surprise inspections will be seen from CBSE. There are also guidelines that students who are studying in schools cannot have coaching classes during school hours. This will ensure regular attendance of students in schools. Regular attendance monitoring will also end the practice of dummy schools.
