Therefore, there needs to be continuous action and preventive efforts to overcome the negative impacts of climate change.
“We appreciate international collaboration to enrich educational methods and provide concrete solutions to increase children’s awareness of climate change issues through edugames,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) Suharti, who is also the Head of the National Secretariat of Disaster-Safe Education Units in Jakarta, Thursday (8/8).
He explained that climate change has become a serious threat to the well-being of children and youth.
This group is highly vulnerable to the negative impacts of climate change which can harm their health, education, nutrition and well-being.
In an effort to address this challenge, PREDIKT and ChildFund Indonesia, together with several partners, have conducted research focused on developing educational materials through a gamification approach (edugames).
This activity is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-Indonesia Collaboration for Knowledge, Innovation and Technology (KONEKSI).
The end result is to help the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology provide educational materials related to climate change and disaster resilience.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Suharti, said that edugames are a solution for educating students about climate change.
